Work with Us
Join us in helping artists create the best work they can by being the ultimate technical backbone. We are growing into a second location soon and are looking for qualified candidates across multiple types of positions. All positions will start with a 30-to-45-day training/proving period, after which the rate is re-evaluated depending on final placement and performance. We include profit sharing and plenty of opportunity to grow for motivated employees interested in making this more than “just” a job, but a career. All positions require a strong desire for perfection, as we are taking care of people’s once-in-a-lifetime family memories, first-time high-paying jobs shooting for prestigious publications, and many other kinds of unmissable moments where missing the mark means orders of magnitude more to that person (and many others) than someone’s $10 processing order. We strive for perfection. And that should be an exciting challenge (as opposed to a deterrent) for those we’re looking to hire. Candidates should thrive with constructive critique for improvement and should return the favor to other team members openly and honestly, with respect. Help us all care more, do more, and be more every day you come to work.
Current Positions
Pay: $18/hour* during evaluation period. Up to $20/hour* post-evaluation with the possibility for merit-based acceleration within the first 12 months. Everyone absolutely could meet or exceed this guidance. If you want to earn more, we will always openly share with you what will be necessary to get there. If anything is unclear, always ask. We love open, honest communication.
*All team members share in end-of-the-year earnings proportionally to their rate of pay and hours worked.
General Application
For those interested in a more blended role or something else not mentioned, feel free to still apply with a general application. We have many needs across the board, but please be aware we are particularly seeking those with at least 15-30+ hours of weekly availability, including weekend days. Candidates with 20+ hours of availability (at least in the near future) will be preferred. Weekend availability is also preferred.
Lab Technician: Scanner
As a Lab Tech, your primary role will be on the technical side of the lab, mostly scanning. This is the backbone of what we do: bringing incredible analog into the digital world in which we live today. That conversion does not come without a need for careful consideration of each photo. As technical as the role is, it is also creative and requires a keen eye and aptitude for understanding what makes for objectively good color in a photograph, even when there may be many subjective and several sound, objective answers. All these decisions will have to be made quickly to remain efficient and to get customers’ film back as fast as possible without sacrificing high standards. In time, or depending on current skills, there is plenty of room to grow into additional editing, colorist, lab processing roles, and more. To be considered for this role, you should have prior experience with Noritsu or Frontier scanners in a high-paced lab environment. You should have a strong desire for consistent self-improvement and should hope to infect the workplace with a similar motivation that helps drive us all to be proud of what we do, without reservation.
Responsibilities
Scan customer film, keep organized with digital file management, and accurately deliver orders to customers through our delivery UI.
Potentially help lead us into a more personalized level of service that includes custom color profiling and matching, higher-level digital edits, and more.
Actively evaluate internal processes across any lab aspect and make recommendations for consistent improvement.
Requirements
Similar experience working with a photo lab is required. Exceptions can be made for those who demonstrate a high level of proficiency in their personal work and an aptitude for efficient scanning during a short, paid trial period.
Strong organizational and writing skills.
Lab Technician: Jobo Processor
As a Lab Tech/Processor, your primary role will be on the technical side of the lab, mostly doing manual processes with the Jobo CPP and/or ATL systems. Training for this role is a crash course in following clear instructions without making mistakes. Attention to detail is key. A simple mistake means an entire batch of customer film being ruined. But for those familiar with Jobo processing, this should be a fun, rewarding job since you’ll be helping keep the wheels moving in on of the few labs doing ECN-2 and E-6 in-house. In time, or depending on current skills, there is plenty of room to grow into additional scanning, editing, colorist, and/or more. To be considered for this role, you should have prior experience with semi-automated/semi-manual processing. Experience with Jobo and color processing is a must, ideally in a high-paced lab environment. You should have a strong desire for consistent self-improvement and should hope to infect the workplace with a similar motivation that helps drive us all to be proud of what we do, without reservation.
Responsibilities
Process all E-6 and ECN-2 film in one of our Jobo processors
Keep a clear and regularly rotating schedule of all processes/batches to ensure consistent, on-time turnaround for customers
Plan efficient workflows to minimize waste of time and chemistry
Mix/prep chemistry for each day’s batches
Actively evaluate internal processes across any lab aspect and make recommendations for consistent improvement.
Requirements
Jobo experience required
Similar experience working with a photo lab is highly preferred. Exceptions can be made for those who demonstrate a high level of proficiency in their personal work and an aptitude for efficient and effective processing during a short, paid trial period.
Strong organizational and time management skills are required
Strong writing skills are a plus
